The verb 'to be'
The verb to be in the present simple tense is used as a linking verb.
It connects the subject of a sentence to another word or phrase that tells us more about the subject. We use the verb to be when we don't have any other verbs in the sentence.
Ex.: Tiger is a wild animal. Giraffes are tall.
