An email from an airport

Hi, Miranda!

I hope you are fine and enjoying your holidays.

I am writing to you from the airport. My family and I are going on holiday to Cyprus.
At the moment, we are waiting for our flight. It is delayed by \(2\) hours due to bad weather. We have to kill the time. My mum and sister are buying something in duty-free shops. Dad is drinking coffee in a café, and I am sitting in the departure lounge, writing to you and looking around.

I feel excited and frustrated at the same time. On the one hand, it is so romantic to look out of these huge airport windows and see that some planes are disappearing in clouds while others are landing. Soon we will also board our plane and after a while find ourselves in another corner of the world. On the other hand, I feel dizzy and want to escape this place as soon as possible. People are moving in different directions, buzzing like bees. Everybody is hurrying somewhere — to check-in desks, information boards, gates. Children are running past their parents. All of them are talking, or even shouting because this is the only thing to do if you want others to hear you in this noise. Moreover, announcements are echoing all the time. So there is no pleasure for both ears and eyes. The departure boards are constantly flickering with updates, showing destinations, flight numbers and departure time. I wonder if I will stay alive after \(2\) hours of waiting in such atmosphere.

Anyway, I should hope for the better and write my next email to you from a sunny beach in Cyprus.

Bye for now!
Clare
