Russia has a long history from ancient Rus' to modern days. There are many customs and traditions in Russian culture. Some of them remain the same for many years. But there are also many traditions that have changed or disappeared over time.
For example, Russian men had a tradition of wearing beards. Those days men in Russia didn't think that a beard could sometimes look untidy. They were very proud of their beards. A long beard demonstrated that the man was adult and successful, he had money and a good social status. Nowadays men sometimes wear beards to look stylish. But a beard certainly doesn't mean so much nowadays.
