National stereotypes

Hi! I am Ben. Welcome to my travelling blog. Today we will learn about national stereotypes, or what people think about typical character traits of different nationalities. Of course, stereotypes are only beliefs, and not always true as all people are individuals.
The British
  • British people are rather conservative. They stick to customs. \(5\) o'clock tea is still a part of the day of any British person.
  • Politeness is another typical feature of the British. They will say 'Sorry!' even if they haven't done anything wrong.
  • The British do not show their emotions whatever happens.
  • British people have a specific sense of humour. Even if a British person tells the funniest joke in the world, he or she stays serious. Themes for humour vary a lot. The British can make fun of the weather as well as of an event in the royal family.
The Japanese
  • Japanese people respect others, especially old people.
  • They try to avoid any argument and care about others to get along with them.
  • The Japanese are shy. They don't show their individuality as they are afraid to seem strange to others. They prefer to stay in groups.
  • Many Japanese people work long hours and devote themselves to their jobs.
The Italians
  • Italian people enjoy meeting new people and chatting. They use their body language a lot to express their emotions when communicating. They also can speak loudly to stress what they say.
  • The Italians value personal relations. They are always ready to help and give others what they have.
  • Italian people like designer clothes and always wear sunglasses.
 The Germans
  • Most German people are saving money. Before buying something, a German will compare prices of goods in different shops.
  • People say that the Germans are sincere and straightforward. They always tell the truth, but some of their answers can sound rude.
  • Another well-known quality of the Germans is punctuality. If you have German friends, they will never keep you waiting.
  • The Germans are good at organising things. They like order in everything.
 The Turkish
  • People say that the Turkish enjoy inviting friends, relatives and even strangers to their place and making them feel at home.
  • Turkish people pay much attention to hygiene and do their best to stay healthy. They are afraid of catching a cold, and that's why they don't have air-conditioning at home. (Remember, it's only a stereotype.)
