Nothing and nowhere are indefinite pronouns. We use nothing and nowhere to stress that there are no things or no places. We use these pronouns with a singular verb.
We can use these pronouns instead of not \(+\) anything/anywhere.
Examples:
- There wasn’t anything I could do. \(=\) There was nothing I could do.
- He didn’t have anywhere to go. \(=\) He had nowhere to go.
Nothing и nowhere — неопределённые местоимения. Мы используем nothing и nowhere, чтобы подчеркнуть, что нет каких-то вещей или мест. Мы используем эти местоимения с глаголом в единственном числе.

In Russian, we can use double negation. But there should be only one negation in an English sentence! Don’t use nothing or nowhere after no, not or never.

(Incorrect): It was so dark that I couldn’t see nothing.

English:
(Correct): I can never find anything in my room.
(Incorrect): I can never find nothing in my room.
(Correct): I can never find anything in my room.(Incorrect): I can never find nothing in my room.We can use nothing as a subject. We can’t use not \(+\) anything in this way.
Example:
(Correct): Nothing is tasty enough for you.(Incorrect): Not anything is tasty enough for you.Мы можем использовать nothing в качестве подлежащего. Мы не можем так использовать not \(+\) anything.
