Classroom Debate
It was debate day at school, and I felt incredibly nervous, as it was my first time participating in such an event. Our teacher, Mrs. Carson, had announced the debate topic the previous week, and I had been preparing ever since. The topic for debate was whether social media was more \(30\)_____ or beneficial to teenagers.
When it was finally time to \(31\)_____, I walked to the front of the class. My hands were shaking, but I tried to stay calm. As soon as I began speaking, my classmates started \(32\)_____ to me carefully. I presented the argument that social media could be dangerous because it spreads misinformation and causes self-esteem issues.
I could tell my opponent had strong points too, though. When he spoke, he mentioned that social media helps people connect and keep in \(33\)_____. His argument was so convincing that for a moment, I doubted my own \(34\)_____ of view. \(35\)_____, I stuck with my original argument and continued to explain why social media might be bad if not used carefully.
In the end, Mrs. Carson said we both did well, but she would tell us who won the debate after class. Regardless of the \(36\)_____, I was proud of myself for standing up and speaking in front of the class. For me, it was a success.
